Intermediate Course (Alps)

Canoe Control intermediate (progressive) whitewater course for Kayaks, canoes & sit-on-tops. This course is available during the summer from our base in the French Alps and can include the BCU 4 Star Kayak training and assessment.With our coaching your river awareness and paddling skills will develop at a fast rate. As professional coaches we tutor our clients as individuals, designing teaching programs that maintain learning within each person’s individual comfort and learning zone. This course will also focus on different leadership styles to suit the ever changing river environment. Monitoring of progression will be ongoing, ensuring that core skills are not missed. River paddling sessions will concentrate on what works best for the individual learner rather than just following a prescribed formula or syllabus. The ability to recognise and use water features is fundamental to the improvement of your river running and playboating skills and this course will highlight and improve on all aspects of these. We will improve your control of your boat by encouraging an enhanced perception of the relationship between your boat, body & blade, where improved body posture will make you a more dynamic boater.

At CANOE CONTROL we are developing a number of new courses/trips for our next years South French Alps season. To complement the intermediate tour shown below we have developed an advanced tour with the same concept.

CONCEPT
A whistle stop kayaking tour with the UK’s most experienced WW Kayak School in the area. We guarantee six intensive days of fantastic white water paddling. This will be a great road trip to enable you to take full advantage of the immense variety and quality of this areas rivers. We will be traveling fast and light to the river systems of the Durance, Drac, Guil and Ubaye. For accommodation we will use fast and easy up tents and carry mats (you will need to bring a sleeping bag). We will have a dedicated driver so no waiting for shuttles. The group will be small and compact cutting out the faff factor. Keeping pace with over 20 years of a 100% safety record, each trip will have a safety boater as well as a lead boater.
FULL-BOARD
This is a fully catered trip we provide breakfast, riverside lunch and dinner. Whilst on the road trip dinner will be taken at a local restaurant
ITINERARY
Day 1) Arrival day. Check into our Alps base and then relax. All boats and kit will be loaded in the evening in readiness for an early morning departure. Over a relaxed dinner we will have a briefing about the next week
Dinner will be a set menu prepared at our base and served with wine.
Day 2) 0800 hrs breakfast.
Warm up on the Durance and lower Guil.
Leave for the Drac
Day 3) 0800 hrs breakfast.
River options are sections of.
Drac Blanc, paddle main Drac and Severaisse.
Day 4) 0700 hrs breakfast.
Leave for the Ubaye
River options/sections of the Ubaye
Day 5) 0700 hrs breakfast.
Leave for the Guil
River options, upper section, upper Gorge and some middle sections of this fantastic river await you.
Day 6) ) 0800 hrs breakfast.
Leave and head for our Alps base

Some of the other activities that can be sampled in the area include via ferrata climbing, fly-fishing, mountaineering, mountain biking, canyoning, telepheriqies (cable car), horse riding, walking, swimming and sailing.
There is shopping and services at l'Agenterie la Bessee, 10 minutes away.
There is a Boulangerie, Pizza van and Bar/Tabac in les Vigneaux 5 mins away.
Doctor clinic in l'Agenterie la Bessee.
Main Hospital 15 k away in Briancon.
The area has a plentiful number of Bars and good Restaurants.
