Provence
Away from the glitz and bustle of the Cote d’azur, Provence is a region that abounds with running water. From the marshes of the Carmague to the heights of the Maritime Alps and the Massif Central, Provence has got it all. A huge variety of white water, superlative food and wine, the aroma of wild herbs from the maquis and a unique quality of light all combine to make Provence a balm to the winter weary and the overworked. Our fully guided courses include all equipment and can cater for novice and experienced paddlers alike. Based near the charming medieval town of Entrevaux with its hidden bars and restaurants, we can provide a wide range of accommodation to suit all budgets and, as always, a very warm welcome.
Before the alpine season begins this is where you will find Canoe Control. We may be paddling open boats down lazy currents or pulling a kayak into the last eddy before the next class 4 drop. The Var has around 60km of top white water ranging from grade 2 to 5. It also has the best class 3 trip in Western Europe, the Gorge Daluis. The River Verdon features the Gorge du Verdon, the ‘Grand Canyon of Europe’ (please see separate page), a mini expedition in itself.
The journey to your spring-time paddle is simplicity itself. You can fly from London to Nice from as little as £60 return. We provide a minibus transfer to meet you on Saturday afternoon and return you to Nice for your departure (no fee). Driving to us, just follow the auto routes to Lyon then onwards in the direction of Marseille. Go past Aix-en-Provence, then onto the auto route to Nice, then take the RN202 to Entrevaux.
