The UK River Rescue Symposium Team

Stuart Woodward Stuart Woodward - Stuart is a global kayak traveller, coach and expedition boater and is the MD of Canoe Control. Each summer Stuart can be found in the French Alps running his kayak school. Over the years is has become a leading authority on the rivers of that region. Stuart is the organiser of the UK River Rescue Symposium.
Franco Ferrero Franco Ferrero - Franco divides his work time between managing Pesda Press and freelance coaching. He is qualified as a BCU Level 5 Coach (Sea and Inland). His passions are white water and sea kayaking, rock and ice climbing, and ski-mountaineering. He has paddled throughout the UK and in many parts of the world including Nepal, Scandinavia, the coast of Brittany in France, the European Alps, Peru and Western Canada.
Slime Peter 'Slime' Knowles - Slime is one of Britain's most experienced expedition paddlers and has led over 50 expeditions and first descents in many different countries. He is the acknowledged authority on Himalayan paddling and author of the definitive guidebook to the region.
Bob Timms Bob Timms - Bob is a practising level 5 coach who now lives permanently in France where he kayaks, canoes and rafts, working for NST and PGL. His paddling has taken him to every corner of the globe and he has held several prominent posts including at Plas y Brenin and the National Whitewater Centre.

Ray Goodwin - Ray has more than 25 years' experience of introducing people to, and developing people's skills in, mountaineering and canoeing. Having first qualified as a teacher, he went into outdoor education, becoming Chief Instructor of an outdoor centre. He holds the Mountaineering Instructor Certificate (MIC) and is a level 5 coach.

Will King - Will is a young full time professional coach and guide, living between the West Country and Southern France. Will has great coaching skills and has been fortunate enough to have worked alongside some of the UK's leading coaches, which has enabled him to develop a high degree of maturity and judgment on the water. He is now planning a busy year of boating and working thoughout Europe.

Jules Bernard - Jules is an aspirant level 5 coach and is currently the European Chief Instructor for Rescue Training International. He is an established Swift Water Rescue instructor and has provided training throughout the world.

Doug Ammons - you can read a full bio of Doug on the Doug Ammons Talk page as he is also our guest lecturer. He has also agreed to become involved in the main symposium.
Dave Manby - Dave began paddling in the seventies, during the time when canoeing was really changing as a sport. Boundaries were being pushed with what could be run. He was part of the team which ran the Dudh Kosi, the river that runs down Everest. At the symposium he will form part of the forum panel.

Ollie Vann - Ollie has many years of experience on the water, after spending 5 seasons in the Ardeche open canoeing he joined the Canoe Control team in the French alps and Provence. He has travelled the world doing many seasons, trip leading multi day rafting and kayak trips in Morocco, turkey and Zambia. He has a real passion for river life and teaching.
